Buck’s Post Surgery Vision Update

So many of my friends, family, and even strangers from all over the country have asked me how I’m doing. Thank you all for caring! There’s so much going on in the world right now that is more important. But, I thought I’d just update you all with how things are “looking”.

I’ve been really struggling to read lately, and after today’s appointment I know why! A side effect of the retinal reattachment surgery has caused my eye to be slightly out of its original position. So now my left eye is pointing slighting more up than my right eye, causing me to see a shadowed double of everything I look at, and making it very hard to focus on things — especially text. See this visual I created to give an example of how black and white text looks. Luckily, I have a great Optometrist who helped me figure out the issue, and we are going to try putting prisms into my eyewear lenses to help correct what I’m seeing so that things look more in line with each other between my two eyes. While this has been really frustrating on a daily basis, my eye is otherwise healthy and has healed from a medical perspective better than what doctors had anticipated.

Let’s hope these prisms do the trick so I no longer feel like I’m looking at things cross eyed! In the meantime, keep talking about my story with those you care about, or those you hear are considering Vuity eye drops — which is where this story began.. Take care!
